Releasing the Past and Embracing the Present
Many individuals find themselves struggling with the emotional after effects of past trauma, even if it happened years ago. EMDR is a unique evidence-based psychotherapy approach that utilizes bilateral stimulation, like eye movements, to help your brain naturally process and reintegrate traumatic memories.
While you recall specific elements of the memory, the therapist guides you through specific eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, promoting deeper processing and emotional release.

What can I expect during an EMDR intensive?
EMDR intensives offer a focused approach to emotional processing, allowing you to make significant progress in a shorter timeframe. During these intensives, you’ll collaborate with your therapist to identify target memories and negative beliefs.
We will practice EMDR techniques such as eye movements, bilateral tapping, or auditory tones. You’ll be able to reprocess these experiences in a safe and controlled environment, and move forward with cognitive restructuring, history taking, and target selection. Our aim is to reduce the emotional impact of these events, empowering you to move forward.

Does EMDR really work?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) has garnered significant attention for its potential to unlock healing and emotional freedom. But does EMDR really work? The answer, backed by rigorous research, is a resounding yes.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
A 2013 meta-analysis published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found that EMDR was significantly more effective in reducing PTSD symptoms than other standard treatments, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).
Additionally, a 2014 study published in Psychological Science showed that EMDR effectively reduced PTSD symptoms in as few as three sessions, highlighting its potential for swift progress.
Anxiety disorders
A 2017 study in World Psychiatry showed EMDR significantly reduced anxiety symptoms in individuals with various anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder.
Depression
A 2019 study in Depression and Anxiety found that EMDR, combined with medication, led to significantly greater improvement in depression symptoms compared to medication alone.
Phobias
A 2018 study in Behaviour Research and Therapy demonstrated EMDR’s effectiveness in treating phobias, leading to significant reductions in fear and avoidance behaviors.
